Introduction

We currently have an opportunity for a General Manager Operations Inland to be based in Gauteng who will be responsible for overseeing and optimising all inland operational functions, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective delivery of logistics services. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the GM Ops Inland will be responsible for implementing strategies, managing teams, and achieving key performance targets for inland operations in the JHB, POL, NLS and KLD regions.

Strategic and Operational Planning and Implementation :

• Assist in developing and executing an integrated inland logistics strategy that aligns with the company’s overall objectives and targets.
• Drive the implementation of key operational strategies aimed at improving performance and meeting customer satisfaction goals.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, fleet demand, and operational requirements to make data-driven decisions.
• Draft, maintain, and enforce relevant inland operational policies, procedures, and processes.
• Recommend and implement improvements to enhance customer experience and service delivery.
• Identify operational risks, contribute to risk mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with contracts and client requirements.
• Monitor compliance with industry regulations and corporate policies at the inland operations level.
• Assist in tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) for the inland division, ensuring alignment with revenue goals and performance targets.
• Implement best practices to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency within the inland logistics team.
• Develop, monitor, and manage the annual inland logistics budget.
• Analyse financial results and operational performance, making recommendations for cost-saving measures and improvements.
• Monitor expenditure, ensuring that it remains within budgetary constraints.
• Respond to variances in financial results, identifying areas for remedial action and cost optimisation.
