- To implement pharmaceutical services as per protocols for clinical research studies conducted at Wits RHI research sites

Comply with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirementsImplement and maintain study specific procedures according to regulatory requirements and protocolProvide training and mentorship to the project team on all pharmaceutical aspects of the project, including but not limited to stock management, dispensing and pharmacovigilanceMaintain study documentationConduct internal monitoring and quality control / assuranceIdentify any regulatory issues and bring it to the attention of the study investigatorsPrepare for any monitoring or auditing visits from regulatory authorities or sponsorsSupport the general housekeeping of the DoH site pharmacies according to infection control standardsSupervise the dispensing processes followed by NIMART-trained nurses in line with the protocol and local regulationsProvide education on the correct use of or adherence to drugsMaintain drug accountability records for all drugsConduct stock control to ensure the correct availability of stock levels and expiry of drugsAdminister process and file relevant documentationOrder medicines (scheduled, cold chain, comparative, concomitant and basic) to ensure sufficient stockEnsure appropriate destruction of all expired and quarantined drugsMaintain appropriate storage conditionsCompile periodic drug accountability reports and study specific reports as and when requiredOversee the completion and filing of Pharmacy Case Report Forms (CRFs)Maintain and file all relevant pharmacy specific participant documentationSupport the documentation and reporting of adverse events in study participantsPeriodic review of all pharmacy SOPs and quality management planDevelop and effectively manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders including DoH, regional pharmacy, funders, private health service providers, partners and relevant Wits RHI structuresServe as a representative of the pharmacyComply with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Protocol requirements and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Verify accuracy of data in source documentation and accuracy of transcription from source data Case Report Forms (CRF) as neededEnsure errors on source documents e.g. CRFs are corrected, initialled and datedSupport the timely transmission / data faxing of relevant Case Report Forms following QC activity (as needed)Ensure completion of corrective action of internal and external QC reports and monitoring reviewsAssist with staff training (and retraining) where error trends are identified Coach and train subordinates and team members to ensure the acquisition of knowledge and skills required by the organisationPromote harmony, teamwork and sharing of informationRequired minimum education and training :
Bachelor of Pharmacy DegreeValid drivers license and own transport requiredProfessional Body Registration :

Minimum of 4 years experience of which one should be in a clinical trial or research environmentDesirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities :
