Automotive Petrol Qualified Technician

AUTOMOTIVE PETROL QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN

Main Purpose of Job : Must be an Automotive Petrol Qualified Technician, preferably with experience in brands such as Citroen, Jeep, Opel, Peugeot, Alfa Romeo, Abarth.

To repair and service motor vehicles according to manufacturers' standards and specifications.

Main Job Functions :

Establish parts required for service or repairs and ensure correct parts are ordered.

Report promptly to the foreman on any additional work needed.

Obtain authorization before carrying out additional work or fitting parts costing more than approximately R.00.

Gather technical information from the Foreman on complex jobs.

Strictly adhere to manufacturers' technical specifications and standards.

Follow workshop policies and procedures.

Write concise descriptions of all work performed, including causes and corrections, on the back of the job card.

Handle old parts properly, ensuring they are stored or tagged according to warranty procedures.

Record all oils and consumables used on the job card.

Maintain vehicle cleanliness and use seat and fender covers.

Keep the work area safe, clean, and organized.

Accurately record work time on the timesheet immediately after completion.

Report faulty or broken equipment to the Foreman.

Use special tools and equipment carefully and maintain them in good condition.

Possess and maintain a complete set of personal hand tools as per M.I.F.

standards.

Perform repairs according to specifications and within flat rate times.

Mentor and supervise apprentices / learners, ensuring they develop necessary skills.

Maintain a neat appearance and good relationships with workshop staff.

Customer vehicles must not be used for personal sitting; accessories such as radios or cigarette lighters must not be tampered with.

Keep removed components and parts organized, safely stored, and properly recorded for reassembly.

Ensure all tools are in good order and management provides any necessary special tools outside normal scope.
