Head of Sales | Luxury Private Reserve | Johannesburg

Location : Johannesburg

Salary : Negotiable, Dependent on Experience

Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a dynamic and results-driven Head of Sales to lead and implement a global sales strategy for a prestigious luxury private reserve. This is a senior leadership position focused on expanding revenue streams, developing strategic partnerships, and strengthening brand presence across key international and domestic markets.

Key Responsibilities :

Sales Strategy & Planning

Develop and execute a comprehensive global sales strategy aligned with the brand's mission and revenue objectives

Identify new opportunities in core markets including the USA, UK, Europe, and South Africa

Monitor competitor activity and industry trends to refine positioning and market approach

Revenue & Business Development

Achieve and surpass annual sales and occupancy targets

Establish and nurture strong relationships with luxury travel trade partners such as tour operators, travel advisors, and DMCs

Grow direct booking channels and foster loyalty among high-value repeat clients

Explore and secure new business ventures and strategic partnerships

Team Leadership & Cross-Department Collaboration

Lead a high-performing sales and reservations team, including internal and external representatives

Work closely with marketing and operations teams to ensure alignment on promotions, guest experience, and brand consistency

Represent the reserve at key international trade shows, roadshows, and industry events

Client & Trade Relations

Act as brand ambassador to key accounts and industry stakeholders

Drive a relationship-led, highly personalised approach to trade engagement and client retention

Manage account strategies including sales calls, familiarisation trips, and training initiatives

Reporting & Market Analysis

Monitor KPIs and track sales metrics to evaluate performance and return on investment

Provide regular market intelligence and sales forecasts to senior leadership

Qualifications & Experience :

7–10 years of experience in luxury travel and hospitality sales, with an established global trade network

Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and growing revenue within high-end tourism

In-depth understanding of the luxury travel landscape, including affiliations such as Virtuoso and Traveller Made

Background in conservation-based or experiential travel products is advantageous

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments

Proficient in financial tools and reporting systems (e.g. ERP, Excel, BI tools)

High attention to detail and adaptable work ethic

Personal Characteristics :

High level of integrity and professionalism

Strong leadership, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities

Entrepreneurial mindset with a strategic and hands-on approach

Excellent presentation and communication skills

Commercially minded with a deep understanding of the luxury guest experience

Passionate about conservation, sustainability, and responsible tourism

Able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment
