Job description
  • SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;
  • Responsible for the repair, maintenance and general upkeep of Resorts physical assets in compliance with

    national and local legislation, resort policies and procedures and the brand’s standards for quality,

    cleanliness, guest satisfaction, safety and security. Responsible for stock Issues, controls, stock takes.

    Allocating of sufficient work for subordinates and monitoring them constantly. Staff Appraisals. Any

    employee, whose duties include handling of money or Company assets, will be held accountable for any

    shortages, losses or excesses

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES :

    • Hands on approach in all aspects of the Maintenance Department
    • All aspects relating to staffing of the Maintenance Department including sourcing of suitable staff,
    • preparation of rosters, training and skills development, daily management of available personnel,

      handling I.R. Issues etc.

    • All aspects relating to the provision of stock & supplies including the sourcing, purchasing, proper
    • storage, control and recording of stocks and supplies usage

    • Preparation of Departmental and Capital expenditure forecasts and budgets as well as budgets for
    • sundry projects, as well as provision of assistance to the resort manager in the preparation of resort

      budgets as required

    • Implementation and control of Departmental expenditure budgets with a focus on maintaining the highest
    • standards whilst exercising a tight control on costs

    • Daily planning, prioritization and allocation of maintenance tasks and duties
    • Preparation, planning and implementation of preventative and routine maintenance programs to all
    • Resort assets including but not limited to buildings, facilities, infrastructure, water reticulation, electrical

      reticulation, sewage reticulation and works, refuse facilities, air-conditioning, ventilation, swimming pools,

      entertainment and recreational areas, roads, dams, fences, pathways, storage areas, fire equipment,

      plant and machinery, lighting etc.

    • Assists the Resort manager in the planning and execution of special projects related to maintenance and
    • development, including refurbishment and construction projects

    • Control, storage, safekeeping, issuing & proper utilization of all Departmental tools and equipment
    • Controlled and correct usage of all Departmental Vehicles
    • Attending to day to day callouts for repairs throughout the resort and ensuring prompt response times to
    • same

    • Performs regular & systematic checks of all facilities with special attention to guest facilities and the
    • maintenance of standards

    • Maintenance, repair, proper care and control of all appliances whether in use or in storage as backup
    • Maintenance and repairs to Security systems including CCTV Monitoring systems as well as Door
    • Locking Systems in use (In conjunction with systems specialists as required)

    • Maintenance and repairs to all electronic systems including internet, wi-fi, communications, satellite TV
    • etc. (In conjunction with systems specialists as required)

    • Plans and arranges the maintenance and servicing of all other plant & equipment as appropriate
    • Ensures compliance with all statutory requirements, especially those relating to health & safety
    • Regular checks and necessary maintenance of all water reticulation infrastructure including dams,
    • reservoirs etc.

      INTERNAL

    • Regular checks and necessary maintenance of all electrical infrastructure including the weekly testing
    • and maintenance of generators

    • Regular checks, cleaning, maintenance and servicing of Sewage Plant and reticulation
    • Regular inspection, cleaning and maintenance of Refuse removal areas and facilities
    • Daily cleaning of all swimming pools and maintenance of standards with particular reference to hygiene
    • and health and safety aspects

    • Daily checks of all guest entertainment areas and facilities with particular regard to the safety of kids
    • entertainment facilities

    • Regular checks and maintenance as required of all roads and storm water drainage infrastructure
    • Regular checks and maintenance of security, perimeter fencing and prompt performance of repairs to
    • identified and reported faults

    • Regular checks and maintenance as required to all pathways, walkways and access routes with
    • particular regard to safety

    • Regular checks & maintenance of all firefighting equipment including annual servicing and refilling of any
    • equipment used to ensure a permanent state of readiness

    • Assist in the management, monitoring and supervision of any Contracted out work or projects
    • Ensure that all work areas are always kept neat, clean and tidy
    • Be a part of and actively participate in Training programs as well as any activities related to Health and
    • Safety in the workplace and on the Resort

    • Ensure that all staff operate all tools according to required operating standards
    • Liaison and communication with a variety of external parties including local authorities, service providers,
    • suppliers, contractors, officials, inspectors etc.

    • Compliance with national and local legislation, Resort policies and procedures and the brand’s standards
    • for quality, cleanliness, guest satisfaction, safety and security

    • Preparation of reports, proposals and other documents as & when required or directed
