Job descriptionBachelors degree or equivalent in Electronic or Computer Engineering 35 years experience in the electronics or engineering field Experience in hardware and software R&D Proven experience in formal testing, certification, and approval processes (non-negotiable) Advantageous : experience in multi-disciplinary environments Knowledge of certification methods for gas instrumentation, collision avoidance systems, vehicle control systems, and light-current mining electronics Familiarity with standards and authorities such as SABS, MSHA, ATEx, ANZEx, IECEx, MOSH, CE, FCC, and ICASA Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively Developer-minded approach to technical challenges Willingness to travel and stay updated on technology trends Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities Awareness of the critical impact of quality on safety and business operations Bonus : Leadership experience, intrinsic safety knowledge, and experience in heavy engineering or mining environments
Duties
- Contribute to all certification activities including meetings, testing, documentation, and regulatory submissions
- Support engineering reviews and ensure product alignment with certification requirements
- Identify applicable standards, testing laboratories, stakeholders, and certification authorities
- Monitor changes to certification and approval standards
- Review and validate system requirements, architectures, and designs
- Conduct engineering and environmental testing, manage product submissions, and maintain test traceability
- Ensure all documentation adheres to internal configuration management policies
- Maintain certification integrity and traceability throughout the product lifecycle
- Provide inputs on scope, budget, timelines, and risks related to certification and approval processes
- Collaborate with internal teams such as engineering, system design, and project management
- Liaise with external partners and customers regarding certification methods and compliance
