Western and Northern Cape (Based in or near Citrusdal)
A leading agricultural solutions provider seeks a Technical and Programme Co-ordinator to support their Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) programme in the Western and Northern Cape regions. This permanent role is ideally suited to a young Entomologist or a candidate with a relevant BSc qualification in agriculture or biological sciences. Minimum requirements :
- BSc degree in Entomology or related Agricultural / Biological field (Honours advantageous)
- 1–3 years’ technical field experience (fresh graduates with relevant exposure will be considered)
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English (spoken and written)
- Valid driver’s licence (Code B or higher) and willingness to travel extensively across key farming areas
- Knowledge of pest monitoring, False Codling Moth, or Integrated Pest Management (IPM) will be a strong advantage
- Strong analytical, reporting, and scientific writing skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Key Responsibilities :
Conduct weekly orchard inspections and pest monitoring (False Codling Moth, Fruit Fly, BD, Carob Moth)Analyse data and write short, scientifically based reports with technical recommendationsCommunicate directly with growers and assist in client onboarding and weekly feedbackMonitor orchard sanitation, pest infestation, and execute follow-up visits where neededAssist with the planning and implementation of moth distribution and quality controlSupport field-based flight tests and weekly trap station reviewsCollaborate with Programme and Area Managers to support national programme alignment and reportingConsultant : Lynette Wolmarans - Dante Personnel Mpumalanga
