Production Engineer required for a reputable water treatment company based in Newcastle , Kwazulu Natal
Requirements :
- Q ualifications : B.Eng or BTech in Chemical Engineering (Required)
- The candidate should also have a firm grasp of especially mechanical engineering principles, as well as electrical and instrumentation exposure
- 3 – 5 years working experience in an engineering or production related field would be preferred
- Computer skills : Word, Excel, data base, power point and e-mail literacy
- Preferably water treatment experienced with specific experience in RO, UF, Precipitation and Clarification
- The successful candidate must be a fast learner and able to work with little supervision
- In possession of valid Code B drivers’ licence and own transport
- Solution and improvement focused (initiative and motivation).
- Effective time management skills with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to multi- task. Working under pressure.
- Proactively work within a team, with the ability to work unsupervised
Responsibilities :
Take plant operational responsibility for plant operational performance and wellbeing, whilst ensuring safe and efficient operations of the plant(s)Providing Process, Operational and Maintenance expertiseMonitor and evaluate plant health and performance and take appropriate actionsCommunicate plant health and performance and take required action, as and when required, to ensure plant functioning at optimum performanceCompile and distribute daily plant operational performance reports to internal and external stakeholderIdentify and drive optimisation and cost saving initiatives and effortsTrack chemical consumption and manage chemical stock levelsMonitor cost of treatment and optimise where possibleIdentifying and implementation of Continuous Improvement InitiativesLead onsite implementation of process changesDeliver on process related inputs required on projects in accordance with sound established engineering principles and standards to satisfy business requirements, including commissioning of new installationsManagement of risks relating to protection of plant equipmentCompiling Standard Operating Procedures where requiredPerform training and development of Process Controllers and SupervisorsAdhere to Incident Notification protocols and management of Incidents / NCR's and follow-through on corrective / preventative actionsGeneral client management and attendance of meetingsEnsure PTO’s, SWP’s and Task Risk Assessments are in place, communicated and conducted as per schedule / procedural requirementsClient communication, interaction and management
