- The main purpose of this position is to manage an HIV Vaccine trial programme that is being implemented at DTHF and other South African clinical research sites. The candidate will have a strong background in basic and / or clinical sciences, and extensive clinical trial experience, including understanding of regulatory processes, trial conduct and investigational product handling.
Job Requirements
MSc in a basic biomedical science (e.g. immunology, virology, molecular biology, pharmacology, infectious diseases) or medical degree(MBChB, MBBCh or MD)3- 5 years’ experience in HIV vaccine and / or HIV prevention research3- 5 years’ experience as a clinical project manager of research studies and research teamsKnowledge of Good Clinical Practice guidelines and clinical trial site processes is essentialStrong research focus and a publication record is essentialDemonstrated leadership and people-management experienceBudget / grant management skillsExcellent ability to build interpersonal relationships and partnershipsStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilitiesExcellent scientific writing and communication skills (English written and verbal)High personal integrity, resilience, and attention to detailStrong planning, organization and reporting skillsAdvantageous :
PhD in a related specialityExperience with vaccine investigational products or immunogenicity studiesExperience in scientific and grant writingCompetence in data management, biostatistics and data interpretationFamiliarity with funding agency and sponsor reporting requirementsResponsibilities :
Co-ordinate and oversee the implementation of an ambitious HIV vaccine programmeMonitoring, Evaluation and Reporting on study progressManage key project staff members ensuring deliverables are metEngage in the HIV Vaccine Research agendaHIV vaccine trial implementation and oversightSupport other HIV prevention projectsAssist the study principal investigators and project leads with preparing reports for funders and regulators and scientific publicationsMaintain relationships with all key stakeholders responsible for project deliveryMedical / Healthcare jobs
