Production Manager

Job Purpose :
To plan, organize, and control production to ensure goods are produced efficiently, on time, within budget, and to the required standard. To help achieve the company's sales turnover and profit targets by on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities :
- Ensure jobs are manufactured correctly, cost-effectively and delivered on time in accordance with draft specifications and quality requirements.
- Communicate with all relevant people / departments and coordinate all relevant inputs (people, machinery, and processes) to ensure production output and on-time delivery targets are met.
- Ensure production departments have sufficient time to manufacture and deliver on time according to the customer's request.
- Plan, schedule, and review workload to ensure production output and on-time delivery targets are achieved cost-effectively.
- Manage customer order requirements
- Pre-plan production and deploy a daily prioritised work schedule to the shop floor with appropriate time deadline targets.
- Set, monitor and review workload schedule in line with Plant efficiencies.
- Adjust the production schedule as required and communicated any change to delivery date with customer.
- Monitor and review manufacturing operations to ensure correct quality standards
- Ensure all production related activity is time and cost efficient
- Identify plant and equipment that has to be maintained and repaired by Maintenance and Tooling Dept.
- Ensure rejected product / non-conformance is rectified as high priority and that customers are kept informed accordingly
- Ensure the shop floor has the necessary manpower, competence, skill, knowledge, plant and tooling required to achieve production targets
- Establish goals and objectives for self and team and implement accordingly to improve job performance.
- Be aware of and promote manufacturing best practice and performance standards.
- Develop and monitor performance / productivity standards
- Identify individual training needs
- Monitor, review and address staff under performance, maintaining appropriate records in accordance with company procedures
- Conduct and record annual performance appraisals
- Liaise with Human Resources Manager to address any recruitments, performance, disciplinary and grievance needs.
- Ensure that the stocks in and out are well organised and adequately resourced to sufficiently support production and the goals of the business
- Ensure that incoming product is processed and managed appropriately according to company procedure.
- Ensure that materials are ready and available for production, and follow up on any outstanding items until they are received
- Ensure that sub-contract processes are received back and that suppliers are chased if late
- Ensure that finished products are well-packaged, labelled and delivered according to the agreed delivery date
- Ensure that manufacturing and inventory systems / processes run efficiently and effectively
- Contributing towards the achievement of the company's strategic and operational targets and overall business aims
- Achieve the companies on time delivery target
- Ensure that all associated operational and manufacturing costs are according to the prevailing annual budget / forecast of the year.
- Ensure that non-value-added activities are reduced in all manufacturing processes by using lean tools and techniques
- Manage change to meet business requirements
- Implement manufacturing improvement processes and systems to reduce inventory, increase throughput and minimise costs.
- Constantly promote and maintain awareness and compliance of H&S in accordance with best practice and legal requirements.
Qualifications and Experience :
National Diploma in Production Management or higher diploma / degree.Minimum 3- 5 years process experience in the manufacturing industryISO working knowledgeThe candidate has strong knowledge of raw materials and moulding equipmentThe candidate has strong computer skills to document and communicate processes that can be easily followed by internal team membersDesign : Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and modelsThe candidate has proven technical and communication skills with demonstrated experience in working in a team environment working to solve problemsAdministration and Management : Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modelling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resourcesAble to work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions, using proven project management skills to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesSkills and Competencies :
