The Open Window School of Creative Technologies is looking for an inspiring educator to join our team as a Lecturer in Interactive Development and Creative Computing. You’ll guide students as they explore how code, design, and hardware come together to shape the digital experiences of the future.

What You’ll Do

You’ll teach and mentor students across undergraduate levels in both Interactive Development (web, mobile, and systems programming) and Creative Computing (electronics, fabrication, and smart object creation).

  • Facilitating learning in both face‑to‑face and digital classrooms
  • Guiding students through hands‑on projects that combine design and code
  • Contributing to curriculum and content development
  • Assessing student work
  • Mentoring students as they build confidence, skills, and creative identities
  • Collaborating with colleagues and MakerSpace technicians on cross‑disciplinary projects
  • Staying up to date with emerging technologies and trends in creative tech
  • Attend and participate in Open Window related events and initiatives such as open days and graduation ceremonies
  • General subject administration

What You Need

  • A relevant NQF Level 8 qualification (Honours or equivalent) in design, multimedia, UX, or related fields
  • Proficiency in both software development and creative hardware environments (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Fusion, CAD)
  • Curiosity for electronics, fabrication, and smart systems
  • A passion for teaching, mentoring, and creative experimentation
  • Master’s degree or PG teaching qualification
  • Knowledge of UX methodologies and / or C# & .NET frameworks

    Remuneration

    R320,000 – R400,000 per annum (commensurate with qualifications and experience).

    No additional benefits are on offer other than a Retirement Annuity which The Open Window contributes a majority portion to, outside of the remuneration package.
