Workshop Manager

Job descriptionOverhaul transmissions and gearboxes (critical), including blowers and larger turbo blowershands-on involvement required. Supervise technicians during repairs and maintenance of pumps, vacuum pumps, blowers, and other rotating equipment. Ensure efficient workflows, accurate job card reporting, and ERP system usage. Ensure compliance with OHS and BCEA regulations in the workshop. Support customers and sales teams with technical problem-solving, building lasting relationships. Lead, motivate, and mentor workshop staff, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance.
Requirements :
- Trade qualification (Fitter & Turner, Millwright, or equivalent) essential .
- Proven experience in gearbox and transmission overhauls
- Strong background in vacuum pumps, pumps, blowers, motors, and rotating equipment advantageous.
- Basic electrical and PLC / HMI troubleshooting knowledge.
- Experience with ERP / job tracking and reporting.
- Supervisory / leadership experience in a workshop environment.
- Bonus : Mechanical Engineering diploma / degree.
- Bonus : Project management experience.
- A natural problem-solver with strong technical know-how.
- A leader who can manage people and projects, while rolling up their sleeves to get the job done. Hands-on is a must.
- Customer-focused, with strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Process-driven, with an eye for efficiency and system improvements.
- Balances excellence with a sense of urgency to ensure fast turnaround times
