Job Description
To produce cost effective and technically sound Piping designs within the required time frame to support project deliverables.
Project Life Cycle
- Ensure discipline strategy development during set-up to meet project deliverables
- Offer general project support and problem solving on technical matters arising
- Use knowledge of scope on current and recent projects to promote re-use of engineering where possible
- Review key discipline documentation and drawings produced on projects
- Develop an Electrical strategy and design criteria to suit the unique project / client requirements
- Generate post-project feedback
Design
Generate scope of work specifications with technical requirements for each packageCompile technical enquiry packages and technical tender evaluations to ensure accurate placement of technical ordersAssist in developing, managing and controlling the discipline cost and man-hour estimatesProduce discipline specific designs according to schedule and budgetManage and control changes to budget and scheduleIdentify potential risks / delays and explain discrepanciesProduce piping designs in accordance with piping design codes and specificationsCarry out dynamic and static analysis using piping stress analysis softwareCarry out valve and piping bulk material specificationsGenerate piping bills of materialGenerate fabrication, erection and testing specificationsMaintain effective engineering input / output of design officeEnsure development and optimization of piping layout drawings through the design officeReview supplier documentation for compliance with technical requirementsClient Relations (Internal & External)

Professionally, the successful candidate will be a B.Sc. / B.Eng or B.Tech graduate and will be registered as a professional engineer or technologist.SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
A proven track record of 5-7 years plus experience in piping engineering design and project management, within a processing or petrochemical plant projects environment, is required for this position.Project Management - Knowledge of basic project management methods and knowledge of all project life cycle phasesDesign Criteria -Applications and improvements of technical knowledge into design criteria that suit project reqs.
