To oversee the smooth functioning of security operations at the Manufacturing Plant (A-Plant), satellite plants / facilities, and to conduct security assessments (audits) of security services by applying Company Policies and Procedures, ensuring maximum security of employees and Company assets.
Possible Tasks within this Role
- Analyse daily incident reports, formulate and implement appropriate actions to provide a proactive security service aimed at reducing risk and ensuring the safety and well-being of employees and the protection of Company assets.
- Liaise with and inform supervision and management on security-related matters affecting the Company to ensure the continued safety of employees and Company property.
- Ensure the upkeep and readiness of departmental equipment and facilities (two-way radios, torches, cloakrooms, security cabins, etc.) to enable security personnel to perform their duties effectively.
- Coordinate and approve manpower allocation for security officers as required to maintain safety and protection standards.
- Prepare and deliver training for contract security personnel to ensure a competent, informed, and motivated workforce that can effectively minimize security risks and maintain a safe working environment.
- Coordinate audits and ensure that all related administrative duties (requisitions, accounts, registers, information logs, etc.) are completed timeously and efficiently by senior security officers, ensuring a high standard of service to all stakeholders.
- Participate in Duty Officer responsibilities to maintain control during any emergencies that may occur outside normal working hours.
- Audit and manage the Group ID card operation (including photo development and contract updates) to maintain strict access control measures.
- Coordinate, audit, and oversee the Companys public transport services in line with production requirements to ensure reliable and secure employee transport.
- Collaborate with the contracted security service provider regarding the recruitment and training of security personnel to ensure an available pool of trained staff for rapid deployment when required.
- Review and assess Group Security Work Instructions and security service provider site instructions monthly, implementing updates to maintain the quality and effectiveness of security operations.
- Evaluate the deployment of contractually required security staff nationally and, where short postings are identified, request credit notes from the service provider to optimize and recover costs.
- Coordinate with internal and external (service provider) management to ensure that key national security operational requirements are effectively measured and reported as KPIs.
- Biannually, or as required, assess the security measures in place for the SOFA operation, ensuring adequate provisions for the safety of both local and international visitors to the Group, and the overall quality and competence of the security operationthis includes managing the deployment of security personnel from the Kimberley and Cape Town regions.
- Create and maintain a daily "live action plan" to record, monitor, and manage activities, incidents, and security requirements, thereby enhancing operational efficiency.
