Input & Execution of Strategy

Carry out design work for fire engineering services associated with projectsProvides conceptual design input and technical inputs to relevant stakeholders regarding fire engineering services and fire installations to projects at all stages from inception to completionDetermine scope of projects required which pertain to fire engineeringContributes to the development of briefs for external consultants / contractors in respect of fireUndertake feasibility studies in respect of proposed projects and provide concept layouts to relevant stakeholders where requiredConduct fire risk assessments for buildings and sites, identifying hazards, evaluating risks, and recommending appropriate solutionsProvide expert advice on fire prevention, fire safety measures, and emergency response planningAttend to breakdowns and ensure that identified problems are solved within realistic timelinesDevelop engineering standards and specifications as well as the continual development of such as and when technology improves or regulations change, ensuring compliance with latest standards or regulations.Develop plans to support maintenance as well as Health and Safety initiatives, communicating to relevant stakeholders.Management of Consultants & Contractors
Reviews consultants’ designs, and ensuring project / s within budget and to agreed specificationsManages contractor / s responsible for repairs & maintenance, planned maintenance and / or CAPEXDrawing up of SLAs, ensuring agreement is received and forwarded to legal teamNegotiates long term agreements with service provider / sHolds regular project meetings to plan and execute worksKeeps Retail and / or Commercial informed of planned maintenance, ensuring communication with the tenantsMonitors progress and quality of the project / s and ensures delivery within budget, on time and to the necessary standardRepairs and Maintenance
Develops, implements, coordinates and monitors a preventative maintenance plan for all fire infrastructure and plantCo-ordinates the integration of the preventative maintenance plan with the overall operational planEnsures scheduled maintenance is performed according to scheduled operational planEnsures that break-downs and problems identified are solved as quickly as possible (within required timelines and requirements)Escalates any constraints to the Executive Manager : OperationsProject Management
Undertakes feasibility, conceptual designs and / detail design for fire services as and may be required for refurbishment or to assist Development and / or TI Team / sAdvises Development and assists with product and / service specifications as required including the necessary liaison with the professional teamCheck and approve installations on completion and ensure commissioning and hand-over documents are provided to V&A Waterfront in accordance with standard procedures.Review and facilitate handover of “as-built” documentation and “O&M” Manuals to V&A Waterfront.Maintain records of fire safety inspections, assessments, and system performance.Safety, Health & Environment
Ensures compliance with regards to fire installations and fire safety equipment.Assist the health and safety department with regards to safety audits where required.Duty Manager
Responsible for entire complex when on standby / weekend duty, every 9 to 10 weeks, ensuring all problems, i.e. lift stoppages, breakdowns, parking boom failures and leaks are solved timeouslyRepresents the Executive Manager : Operations outside working hours and hands / takes over to the Night Manager when on dutyRequirements were found to be relevant to this job :
