Duties & Responsibilities

A Database Developer is the architect behind the scenes who designs builds and maintains the robust systems that power a companys data. They are the ones who ensure that data flows smoothly securely and efficiently acting as the bridge between raw information and business insights.

From crafting the structure of databases to optimising them for performance a Database Developer turns complex data challenges into simple solutions. They work closely with teams to ensure that data is easily accessible reliable and ready for analysis ultimately enabling informed decisionmaking across the business. In short a Database Developer is the guardian of an organisations most assetits dataensuring that its both accessible and protected.

Duties :

  • Design and develop database solutions ensuring they meet business and technical requirements.
  • Write complex queries stored procedures and optimise performance for large datasets.
  • Maintain and enhance existing databases ensuring scalability security and integrity.
  • Work with data analysts and other stakeholders to ensure data is accessible consistent and reliable.
  • Collaborate with the development team to integrate databases into applications and systems.
  • Perform regular database backups and recovery processes to ensure data protection.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve databaserelated issues optimising queries and performance.
  • Stay updated on new database technologies and trends to enhance database capabilities.

Job Experience & Skills Required :

Qualifications :

  • Matric (Grade 12
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Data Science Business Analytics or a related field.

    • Experience :

  • A minimum of 24 years experience as a Database Developer or in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in designing and maintaining complex databases.
  • Experience in data migration integration and transformation processes.
  • Prior experience working with cloudbased databases (AWS Azure) is an advantage.

    • Skills & Competencies :

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and database development.
  • Knowledge of database design and normalisation principles.
  • Experience with database management systems like MS SQL Oracle MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with database performance tuning and query optimisation.
  • Experience in writing stored procedures triggers and userdefined functions.
  • Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with crossfunctional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fastpaced environment.
