POSITION : BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
GRADE : D LOWER
REPORTS TO : NATIONAL SALES EXECUTIVE
JOB OBJECTIVE
To take full responsibility for strategic management of selected key accounts as well the regional sales team in order to achieve annual sales and margin budgets.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Account Management
- Responsible for achieving budget per allocated key account
- Monitor and manage sales performance of assigned key accounts
- Monthly reporting on assigned key account sales
- Monthly meetings with key account buyers
- New business development
- Manage returns, including aged and damaged stock within pre-set limits
- Managing route to market within each key account
- Managing brands’ forward share within each account
- Managing the P & L to achieve target contribution
- Ensure new product listings are executed timeously
- Update discontinued products with buyers
- Arrange promotions with key account buyers
- Key account trade agreement negotiations
Sales Operations Management
Set annual sales budgets by sales agent / agenciesMonitor and manage achievement of sales budget with each sales agent / agencyAssess callage efficiencies for each sales agent areaMonitor and manage sales team activities using Repsly toolRelationship building with non-key account customersBusiness development and growth of customer baseCommunicate promotions to sales staffDo trade visits with or without sales staff, provide coaching & feedback for excellence in execution in tradeAttend and assist with applicable trade shows in the regionMonthly report back on sales for the regionOngoing staff developmentContinuous product training of sales teamRun outcomes based monthly sales meetings, with targeted objectives in line with the business strategyManage stock requirements for the regionManage sales agencies in the regionManage regional expenses within approved budgetPrice maintenance
Review price file every quarter and take corrective action if neededInvestigate rejected orders as it occurs and take corrective actionComplete price increase file and implementTrade Marketing
Manage Trade Marketers and oversee trade marketing activitiesDispo Management
Analyze stock on hand & stock on order, prepare suggested orders based on the aforementioned and submit to BuyerReview product status and take corrective actionsEnsure correct products are linked to store clustersInform Buyer of discontinued productsPromotions
Prepare and present products for promotion to Buyers on a regular basisNegotiate additional space in stores and ensure space is utilizedEnsure promotional deals are loaded on timeImplementation of POS material where allowedCommunicate promotions to RSM’s and merchandising teamManage trade spend budgetProduct listings
Follow up with Buyer on listing progressSubmit suggested order for new productsInform RSM’s about new listingsMonitor sales of new products and identify gapsSales reports
Provide weekly and monthly sales reports to NSMProvide report showing progress against budget to Buyer on a weekly basisAnalyze sales report to identify problem areas and take corrective action in cooperation with NSMReport competitor activity in storeConduct price surveysMerchandising
Ensure merchandising staff is aware of merchandising requirements and maintain shelves as suchEnsure adequate shelf space is allocated based on rate of saleMake use of cross merchandising where applicableProvide training to merchandise staffEscalate merchandising complaints to relevant persons in storeMonitor if complaints have been resolvedEnsure merchandising staff is merchandising stock in storeroomEnsure PI labels are correctRegular store visits and Agents to inspect shelves, display, etc.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Matric is essentialTertiary qualification in Finance / Marketing or equivalent will be advantageousMust be bilingual (English and Afrikaans)Minimum 5 years’ experience in retail with a focus on planning, budgets, forecasts and sales reporting.Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.Ability to analyse data and present data in a professional mannerExcellent customer relation skillsExcellent negotiation and presentation skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSolid knowledge of performance reporting and financial / budgeting processesExcellent organizational and leadership skillsMust be willing to travelPlease apply by sending a copy of your CV at
