Minimum requirements
- LLB degree from a recognized South African university
- Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa
- Right of appearance in the High Court (preferred or required, depending on the role)
- 3–5 years of post-admission litigation experience, preferably in civil and / or commercial litigation
- Solid experience in drafting pleadings, legal opinions, and court documents
- Ability to independently handle litigation matters from inception to trial
- Proficient in legal research and case law analysis
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle (if court travel is required)

Case Management & Client Handling : Manage a full litigation caseload from inception to finalisation. Conduct initial consultations, gather evidence, and provide legal advice to clients. Maintain strong client relationships through regular updates and professional communication.Drafting & Legal Documentation : Draft pleadings, affidavits, notices, heads of argument, and legal correspondence. Prepare legal opinions, memoranda, and settlement agreements. Ensure accuracy, compliance with procedural rules, and legal soundness in all documentation.Court Work & Advocacy : Represent clients in court proceedings, including appearances in the Magistrates’, Regional, and High Court. Conduct pre-trial conferences, motion hearings, trials, and settlement negotiations. Instruct and liaise with counsel where appropriate, including briefing and consulting with advocates.Legal Research & Analysis : Perform in-depth legal research on case law, legislation, and procedural rules. Provide strategic legal advice and develop case strategies based on analysis and precedents.Discovery & Evidence Handling : Manage the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery notices. Analyse evidence, identify key facts and documents, and prepare witness statements or affidavits. Prepare witnesses and clients for trial.Negotiation & Dispute Resolution : Engage in negotiations, mediations, and settlement discussions on behalf of clients. Draft and finalise settlement agreements and monitor compliance.Administrative & Reporting Duties : Maintain accurate and up-to-date file records, billing, and timekeeping. Prepare regular progress reports for clients and internal management. Ensure compliance with legal ethics, firm policies, and Law Society requirements.Collaboration & Professional Development : Work closely with colleagues, paralegals, and support staff on litigation matters. Stay up to date with developments in case law and legislation relevant to the firm’s practice areas. Attend court training, seminars, or CPD sessions as required.Remuneration
