Main purpose of the role : News24's Climate Editor contributes and manages coverage of critical issues around climate change, the environment, renewable energy and electricity systems.
Key responsibilities : Ensuring that News24 covers the latest developments in climate change and the environment.
Producing high-quality, accurate content, including breaking news, in-depth features, investigative pieces, explainer articles and authoritative analysis.
Staying informed on global trends, technologies, and policies impacting climate and energy sectors, acting as an in-house subject matter expert.
Skills and Competencies : The successful candidate is an experienced journalist with a strong track record of covering climate-related topics.
Clear understanding of electricity markets.
Deep knowledge of climate, energy, and environmental issues with a large network of expert contacts in these fields.
A demonstrated commitment to the highest standard of journalism and ethical reporting.
Exceptional writing, editing, and fact-checking abilities under tight deadlines.
Strong storytelling skills, and the ability to translate complex technical topics into accessible articles with visual components.
Qualifications and experience : At least 10 years' experience as a journalist.
A proven track record in climate reporting.
A relevant tertiary qualification.
Digital experience in a business news environment is recommended.
