Business Intelligence Developer
RMB – Rand Merchant Bank seeks an experienced Business Intelligence Developer to translate strategic objectives into actionable data solutions, design and maintain data source processes, and develop stakeholder-responsive insight tools such as Power BI dashboards and paginated reports.
Responsibilities
- Support the interpretation of source‑to‑target mappings, working with data analysts and data engineers to ensure accurate extraction of data from various sources for reporting purposes.
- Utilise data stored in the data warehouse to develop meaningful insights and reports that can enhance the effectiveness of business decisions.
- Align BI reporting initiatives with the broader Information Management strategy by translating business needs into reporting requirements.
- Translate tactical business strategies into actionable reporting goals and contribute to BI initiatives by designing and delivering dashboards and visualisations, with trackable performance measures and control systems, aligned to strategic objectives.
- Ensure that BI reports, dashboards and processes are compatible with Group platform strategy and requirements.
- Drive business profitability in the context of cost management through effective delivery of Business Intelligence solutions (time management and cost).
- Support and implement a cycle of medium‑term improvements to drive profitability and strategic objectives through BI.
- Implement suitable data management practices to ensure the quality and integrity of the information assets, including master data management.
- Drive efficiencies in reporting by promoting reusable templates and leveraging existing tools and datasets developed by Data & Analytics teams.
- Manage existing reports / dashboards through ongoing production of MIS outputs to ensure consistent information supply in the required format / frequency.
- Provide additional insight into information produced for clients to ensure a value‑added service to any information request to enhance business efficiencies.
- Interpret the source to target mapping to be used to extract data from various sources.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders to provide input into assigned projects, in line with business requirements within the required timeframe and specification.
- Liaise with business on project related issues and resolve accordingly.
- Develop business solution based on source to target mapping and business requirements specifications (BRS).
- Perform unit testing.
- Participate in the reporting aspects of the solution lifecycle, including requirements gathering, report design, validation, and user acceptance testing.
- Handle and resolve access requests, report‑related bugs, and data errors by liaising with relevant support and technical teams to ensure timely remediation and minimal disruption to reporting services.
- Ensure ongoing maintenance of BI reports and dashboards, including monitoring refresh schedules and proactively addressing failures to maintain consistent data availability and timely updates.
- Evaluate against the delivery of solution according to the business case for the specific solution to ensure that the proposed benefits are realised.
- Share knowledge and ideas into new or improved data product for the Business Intelligence environment.
- Provide thought leadership and expertise in area of specialization.
- Implement, monitor and control business processes according to quality standards; policy; and compliance and governance requirements in area of accountability.
- Ensure the development, alignment, mapping and implementation of end‑to‑end processes aligned to the customer journey map.
- Research, enable and consult on improvements and opportunities to harness technology and platform enablement.
- Identify opportunities to enhance reporting capabilities through platform features and consult with engineering colleagues to implement improvements that support BI objectives.
- Review existing processes and suggest innovative ideas to improve and stream‑line processes to drive efficiencies and minimise redundancy.
- Monitor customer feedback reports and align processes to maximise efficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant statutory, legislative, policy and governance requirements in area of accountability.
- Ensure implementation of relevant policies, governance, and practice standards across the business.
- Maintain knowledge on relevant legislative amendments, industry best practices and internal compliance procedures and requirements.
- Ensure compliance is adopted in terms of systems and procedures as laid out by organisation and review in response to audit findings and changes.
- Develops an understanding of risks and risk management approaches.
- Implement and provide input into the development of governance and compliance procedures and processes within area of specialisation and identify risks.
- Educates others and makes suggestions for improvements.
- Networks and participates in specialist risk forums where required.
- Provide input into the development of the business area tactical strategy in achievement of the overall business strategy.
- Develop and implement an area operational plan in achievement of Business objectives.
- Develop, encourage and nurture collaborative relationships across area of specialization.
- Ensure full understanding of customer needs to deliver a quality service.
- Propose ideas to improve customer service.
- Participate in planned activities that are appropriate for own development.

Qualifications
