Safety Project Engineer

Reports To : Maintenance Manager (Direct), Regional ESH Manager (Indirect) Travel : Some national and occasional international travel Job Purpose The Safety Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring the highest safety standards in all projects and plant operations by focusing on machine safety, regulatory compliance (OSHA, CE, OSH Act), and implementation of LOTOTO projects.

This role ensures adherence to safety policies, reduces risk, and supports continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities Machine Safety Oversight : Develop and implement safety protocols aligned with South African and CE standards.

Project Compliance : Lead and manage LOTOTO and Capex projects ensuring adherence to OSHA and local laws.

Risk Management : Perform hazard identification and implement mitigation strategies.

Auditing & Inspection : Conduct safety audits and site inspections regularly.

Policy & Training : Create and maintain safety policies and deliver training across the plant.

Stakeholder Engagement : Collaborate with engineering, operations, leadership, and external bodies.

Continuous Improvement : Track regulatory changes and drive improvements in safety protocols.

Financial Justification : Develop business cases and manage project financials including IRR and payback.

Education & Certifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Required) Project Management Certification (PMP preferred) GCC or PrEng / PrTech registration (Advantageous) Skills & Knowledge 3+ years in a project management role in an industrial environment In-depth knowledge of machine operations and safety compliance Familiarity with EEM, TPM, or WCM methodologies Proficient in SAP, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Projects) Strong financial acumen for capital expenditure and business case analysis Excellent verbal and written English communication Leadership and influence Analytical thinking and problem-solving High attention to detail Adaptable and resilient Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Full-time Job function Engineering and Information Technology Industries Technology, Information and Internet This job is active and accepting applications.
