Accountant – Job Specification
Somerset West / Strand
Job Purpose
To oversee and manage financial operations, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and deliver accurate and timely financial reporting to support effective business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and reports.
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts.
- Prepare monthly and ad hoc management reports.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with VAT regulations and prepare VAT returns.
- Conduct internal audits and strengthen financial controls.
- Prepare and maintain audit files for external auditors.
- Generate ad hoc financial reports as required by management.
Skills and Competencies
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero or similar).Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Professional certification (e.g., SAIPA) advantageous.Recently completed articles or 4–5 years post-article accounting experience.Strong Excel skills.To Apply
