Introduction

Portia M is an award-winning cosmetic brand that specializes in manufacturing, selling, and distributing skin care products. We have approximately 40 facial and body skin care products that are sold in over retail stores. We also have a growing presence in countries around the African continent. Our manufacturing plant in Centurion is looking to employ a SHEQ Officer to assist in the manufacturing of quality skincare products and support the enhancement of the Company’s quality department.

Duties & Responsibilities

A successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following tasks : The implementation and monitoring of health & safety policies and procedures (including SOP drafting and implementation). Must be knowledgeable of quality processes. Must be knowledgeable of micro, and R&D laboratory processes. Conduct risk assessments, fire drills, safety audits, and workplace inspections. Must be willing to manage facilities. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses. Health and Safety committee management. Ensure that training and awareness are conducted.

Ensure OHS Act compliance, maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and compliance reports. Testing of fire equipment and ensuring compliance. Ensure and encourage continuous improvement in occupational health, safety, and environmental practices. Monitor and enforce compliance with PPE requirements, safe operating procedures, and statutory obligations.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Desired Work Experience, Skills & Qualifications : National Diploma / Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, acquired from a reputable institution.

Certifications

• Certifications such as SAMRAC, NEBOSHM, ISO
• ISO
• ISO
• HIRA, and a member of SACPMP. Minimum 4 years' experience in a health and safety role, preferably within manufacturing / pharmaceutical Industries.

Solid knowledge of OHS regulations and employment regulations. Experience in conducting risk assessments, implementation and closing of gaps, preparing and conducting audits, as well as incident investigations, closing and reporting of such incidents. Solid reporting writing skills. Must be a person of integrity and ethically valuing ethical practices. Must be approachable but assertive in nature, and professional.
