Job descriptionWe are seeking a skilled and experienced Blockman to join our dynamic butchery team in East London, Balfour Park The Blockman is responsible for cutting and preparing meat products for sale to customers. The Blockman must be skilled in using knives and meat cutting equipment to portion, trim, and grind various cuts of meat. They must have a good understanding of different meat cuts and how to properly prepare them based on customer preferences. The Blockman must adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure the quality and safety of the meat products they are handling. They must keep track of inventory, rotate stock, and maintain a clean and organized work area. The Blockman may also be responsible for assisting customers with their meat selection, providing recommendations, and answering questions about different cuts of meat. Previous experience working in a butcher shop or meat department is preferred. Knowledge of different cuts of meat and meat preparation techniques. Strong knife skills and the ability to safely operate meat cutting equipment. Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to lift and carry heavy trays of meat products. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines. High school diploma or equivalent. Sales / Retail / Business Development jobs
