ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Director of Professional and Technical Services to lead our department responsible for the long-term requirements of our property portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantity surveying, exceptional leadership skills, and a strategic mindset. As the Director, you will oversee cost estimation, procurement, technical operations, and project management across our diverse properties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership :
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy aligned with the groups vision and goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define departmental objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Quantity Surveying and Cost Estimation :
Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction, renovation, and maintenance projects.Ensure other functional areas e.g. Facilities Management and Field Services are included in the design and construction of projects to ensure a smooth handover to operations upon completion.Monitor project budgets, analyze variances, and recommend cost-saving measures.Procurement and Contract Management :
Lead procurement activities, including vendor selection, negotiation, and contract administration.Ensure compliance with procurement policies and industry standards.Technical Operations :
Oversee technical systems, infrastructure, and utility hardware across our properties.Collaborate with engineers, architects, and construction teams to optimize technical efficiency.Project Management :
Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables.Implement effective project management methodologies.Work with other functional areas to ensure successful handover of completed projects and documentation.Risk Assessments and Mitigation :
Identify and assess risks related to project costs, materials, and technical operations.Implement risk mitigation strategies.Financial Reporting :
Generate regular financial reports, including cost breakdowns, forecasts, and cash flow projections.Present findings to senior management and stakeholders.Quality Assurance and Compliance :
Ensure the accuracy and reliability of technical data.Review project documentation for compliance with standards.Ensure all technical compliance certification & documentation are obtained and stored.Industry Research and Innovation :
Stay informed about industry trends, market rates, and emerging technologies.Explore innovative approaches to enhance technical efficiency.REQUIREMENTS :
Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related field (Masters preferred).Professional membership (e.g., MRICS, PQS) is advantageous.Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in quantity surveying and technical management.SKILLS :
