Our client develops a specialised software solution trusted by door and fire-door manufacturers to automate quotations, generate precise drawings, and streamline production processes. With an established presence in the UK and international markets, the company is now expanding into South Africa and is seeking a self-driven Business Development Representative to help identify opportunities and grow their market footprint.
The Role : Business Development Representative
As the Business Development Representative, your focus will be identifying and qualifying manufacturing companies in South Africa that could benefit from a powerful quoting and drawing automation tool. You'll conduct in-depth research, uncover customer pain points, and initiate relationships with key decision-makers. Working closely with a UK-based team, you'll support demo coordination, gather market insights, and play a critical role in shaping the company's entry into the local market.
Key Responsibilities
- Minimum 1 year of experience in sales, lead generation, or business development
- Conduct detailed market research to identify all door and fire-door manufacturers in South Africa
- Gather insights on current quoting, BOM creation, and drawing systems used by target companies
- Map pain points and identify opportunities where the software can add value
- Build a pipeline of qualified leads including manufacturers, distributors, and resellers
- Conduct outreach via calls and emails to key decision-makers (e.g., estimators, production managers, directors)
- Coordinate and schedule product demos (delivered by the UK team) and prepare prospects for sessions
- Follow up with prospects post-demo to gather feedback, answer questions, and assist with next steps
- Maintain accurate records of all market data, conversations, and sales progress
- Provide weekly reports covering new opportunities, competitor tools, and market feedback
About You
At least 1 year of experience in business development, sales, or lead generationStrong research and analytical skills, with the ability to uncover market trends and opportunitiesExcellent phone and written communication skills; able to build rapport quicklyHighly organised and effective at follow-ups and CRM usageSelf-motivated and able to work independently from a remote setupComfortable collaborating with an international team working in UK hoursAdvantageous :
Experience selling technical or software-based solutionsFamiliarity with manufacturing, construction, or building materials industriesUnderstanding of CAD, CNC, or production workflowsAwareness of quotation processes, BOMs, and drawing standards in manufacturing
