Role Overview

Our client is looking for an exceptional Product Designer to lead their design efforts in South Africa. This is an opportunity to shape how merchants in one of Africas most vibrant economies experience their platform and help build financial infrastructure that drives economic growth.

Our client believes that exceptional design is a competitive advantage. As a Product Designer for South Africa youll combine business strategy user experience and visual design to create intuitive payment experiences that delight our users and solve real problems for African businesses.

Youll collaborate closely with our product managers engineers and business teams to understand the unique needs of South African merchants and create elegant solutions that feel like they were made just for them. Youll also play a crucial role in adapting their existing design system to meet local market needs while maintaining a cohesive experience.

This is a full-time role and youll report directly to the Product Design Lead. The successful candidate will ideally be physically located in South Africa.

Requirements

• Have 5 years of experience designing digital products with a strong portfolio showcasing your process and outcomes
• Have a deep understanding of user-centred design principles and methodologies
• Familiar with the South African market and its unique challenges and opportunities
• Excel at both UX and UI design with strong skills in information architecture and interaction design
• Have experience working with design systems and component libraries
• Proficient with design tools like Figma
• Communicate clearly about design decisions and can articulate your reasoning
• Work well in cross-functional teams and can collaborate effectively with non-designers
• Comfortable with ambiguity and can drive projects forward with minimal direction
• Have a growth mindset and continuously seek to improve your craft
• Passionate about creating products that make a real difference in peoples lives
