Position Reports to Assistant Director of NursingEducation and Qualifications : Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Graduate of a recognized program in Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) Registered Nurse with a CSSD diploma or recognized program Bachelor’s and / or Master’s degree in CSSD or a related field preferred Valid registration / license as a Nurse, CSSD, or any allied health profession Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Manager or Assistant Manager of a nursing unit or CSSD in a large acute care hospital Minimum of 3 years of experience managing supplies / equipment at a management level. Key Responsibilities : Manage and oversee all activities within the CSSD, including the decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations Ensure that all sterilization processes are carried out effectively and efficiently, maintaining high standards of quality control Supervise and provide guidance to CSSD staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and adequate supply of sterile instruments and equipment Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, inventory, and equipment maintenance Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring adequate stock of sterile supplies and timely ordering of materials Conduct regular audits and inspections of the CSSD to ensure adherence to protocols and standards Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the CSSD Ensure proper maintenance and functioning of all CSSD equipment, coordinating repairs and replacements as necessary Provide education and training to staff on best practices, new techniques, and safety protocols related to sterilization and infection control.
