Job description

To lead the development, implementation, and institutionalisation of the Strategic Portfolio Office (SPO) framework, ensuring alignment with organisational goals. This role will oversee the creation of SPO policies, governance documents, and strategic frameworks to enable effective portfolio management, prioritisation, and value delivery across the enterprise.

Responsibilities :

SPO Development & Strategy

Design and implement the SPO operating model, governance structures, and strategic frameworks.
Develop and maintain SPO policies, procedures, and templates to standardise portfolio management practices.
Drive the institutionalisation of SPO practices across the organisation.

Portfolio Management

Oversee the strategic alignment, prioritisation, and performance of the project portfolio.

Monitor and report on portfolio health, risks, and benefits realisation.

Facilitate decision-making on resource allocation and investment optimisation.

Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborate with executive leadership to align portfolio strategy with business objectives.

Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Lead change management and communication efforts related to SPO implementation.

Capability Building

Build organisational capability in portfolio management through training, coaching, and knowledge sharing.

Establish performance metrics and continuous improvement mechanisms for the SPO.

Qualifications & Experience

Matric and a Bachelors degree in Business, Strategy, Finance, or related field (Masters preferred).

Minimum 810 years of experience in portfolio, programme, or project management.

Proven experience in setting up or leading a Strategic Portfolio Office.

Certification in Portfolio Management (e.g. PfMP, MoP, or equivalent) is advantageous.
