Job description

My client is currently seeking a Product Risk Team Lead to join their Johannesburg office. This is a rare opportunity to lead a growing team, contribute to global reporting standards, and collaborate with international stakeholders across trading, risk, and IT functions.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead the preparation of daily and monthly P&L and position reports, with clear attribution and commentary for senior stakeholders.
  • Oversee CTRM system integrity, support enhancements, and coordinate resolution of technical issues.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of 35 Risk Analysts, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement and participate in strategic projects across commodity desks and global offices.

Job Experience and Skills Required :

  • Education :

    • Relevant NQF Level 7 qualification in Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • CA(SA) advantageous; CFA / FRM a plus.
  • Experience :

    • Minimum 5 years experience in risk management, product risk, or middle office roles.

  • At least 3 years leadership or team management experience.
  • Prior experience in a trading or financial services environment preferred.
  • Skills :

    • Advanced MS Excel and Power BI skills.

  • Experience with CTRM systems highly beneficial.
  • Strong analytical thinking, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to lead under pressure, manage complex data, and drive operational excellence.
  • Other Requirements :

    • Proactive, self-motivated, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership.
  • Excellent English communication skills written and verbal.
