Overview

Position : Bookkeeper / Customer Support

Client's Industry : Manufacturing

Work Hours (Client) : 9 : 00am - 5 : 00pm EST

Pay Range : $1.300-$2,000 / month depending on experience and location

Location of Search : South Africa

Work Location : REMOTE

Role Overview : We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper & Customer Service Representative to join our team. This hybrid role is designed for someone who can seamlessly manage financial tasks while also serving as a first point of contact for clients. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, clear communication, and the ability to balance both accounting accuracy and excellent client support. This role is critical to keeping the business running smoothly - from managing daily financial operations to ensuring our clients receive responsive, friendly, and professional service.

Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Finance

  • Record, reconcile, and maintain financial transactions (AP / AR, invoices, payments, expenses).
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations across bank, credit card, and vendor accounts.
  • Assist in generating reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) to support decision-making.
  • Manage payroll and contractor payments with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and assist in preparation for tax / annual filings.
  • Support integration with tools such as Zoho Books, QuickBooks, (depending on candidate experience).

Customer Service & Account Support

  • Act as the first point of contact for customer inquiries via email, chat, or phone.
  • Respond to billing, payment, and account-related queries with clarity and professionalism.
  • Provide updates and resolve issues in a timely and empathetic manner.
  • Document customer interactions and track issues through CRM / Helpdesk systems.
  • Support onboarding of new clients by sharing resources, setting up accounts, and assisting with initial queries.
  • Escalate more complex client concerns to senior team members when necessary.
  • Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience : 2-4 years in bookkeeping / accounting roles and 1-3 years in customer service, preferably in a remote or international context.
  • Technical Skills : Proficiency in accounting software (Zoho Books, QuickBooks, , or similar).
  • Comfort with CRMs and ticketing systems (Zoho CRM, HubSpot, Freshdesk, etc.).
  • Strong MS Excel / Google Sheets skills.
  • Soft Skills : Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Customer-first mindset with empathy and patience.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
