We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented recent University graduate in Financial Accounting to join our Retail business’ finance team in Salt River Cape Town. This position offers you the opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of financial activities and to contribute to the success of our organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced chartered accountants, accountants and financial clerks in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Amongst others, your duties may include :
Contribution to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
Participation in the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
Reconciliations and assisting with maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger.
Providing assistance in processing invoices, payments, and receipts, ensuring timely and accurate recording of transactions.
Supporting the preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts, analysing variances and reporting findings.
Compliance and regulatory reporting :
Assisting in the preparation of reports required for regulatory compliance, including VAT returns and other statutory filings.
Help implementing and monitoring of internal control procedures
Undertake special projects and financial analyses as required by management.
Liaising with internal departments and external parties, including auditors, banks, and suppliers, as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline from one of South Africa’s leading universities
Strong analytical and numerical skills
Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
High computer-literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products, with particular focus on Excel
Ability to work as part of a team
