Job description

Our client, formed from merging four financial entities, offers comprehensive services under one roof, providing tailored compliance, performance-oriented, and strategic solutions to meet diverse client needs. They seek Commercial underwriters to join their team.

Job Title : Commercial Underwriter

Location : Bellville

Salary : Market related - Depending on qualifications and experience

Vacancy Type : Full-Time

Non- negotiable qualifications and experience required :

  • Matric
  • Must be Fit and Proper in terms of the FAIS Act
  • 3 to 5 years short term insurance underwriting experience in Commercial Lines
  • Experience on various short term products (Commercial, Agri, Engineering, Marine) and insurers
  • Excellent communication skills (fluent in English and Afrikaans)
  • Must be able to work well under pressure
    • Experience using :
  • Flexi
  • Cardinal (CIMS360)
  • Santam Policy Centre

Beneficial requirements :

As this is a non-advice giving position, a full qualification is not a pre-requisite but advantageous

  • PC Literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Attention to Detail

    • Duties and responsibilities :

    The candidate should have a passion for client services, excel in attention to detail and aim to exceed expectations. Team players are required who can operate well under pressure and embrace Treating Customers Fairly principles.

  • Overall underwriting processes (quotations, new business, endorsements, renewals, cancellations)
  • Ensure documentation is processed accurately and correctly
  • Timeous attendance to internal and external queries
