Title : Business Development Manager Mining
The Business Development Manager Mining is a key role created to expand the company's reach and impact across Africa and globally. This role supports the commercial division by driving sales, strategic communication initiatives, team leadership, and representation at high-level industry events.
Working closely with the Commercial Director, this role also involves oversight and mentoring of sales team members, development of new business opportunities, and contribution to strategic planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Perform all core duties of the Account Executive role, including achieving individual and team sales targets.
Support the Commercial Director in managing the commercial department, including :
Oversight of account managers on mining-related projects
Coordination with marketing and other internal teams
Administrative and reporting tasks
KPI tracking and implementation of best practices
Representing the department in internal and external meetings
Initiate, build, and maintain strategic partnerships aligned with the company's portfolio of services.
Represent the organization at regional and international events to generate new leads and expand brand visibility.
Identify relevant external events for company participation
Provide on-site support at company-hosted events
Develop and sell strategic communications services to enhance business impact and reach.
Assist in onboarding and training new sales team members, ensuring tailored approaches for different markets.
Plan and lead internal training workshops and programs throughout the year in collaboration with the Commercial Director.
Uphold internal systems and reporting standards, including :
CRM usage (HubSpot)
Project and data management tools
Registration and operational systems
Utilize industry knowledge and contacts in the mining sector to identify and pursue new business opportunities and partnerships.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in Sales or Business Development, ideally within the events, conferences, exhibitions, or mining sectors.
Proven ability to originate and close new business deals.
Strong understanding of B2B sales, sponsorship sales, and strategic partnerships.
Excellent negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute business development plans.
Proficiency in CRM software (HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience in team leadership, training, and cross-functional collaboration.
