Job descriptionProvide technical contributions such as creating engineering design concepts and evaluating standard techniques and procedures. Review and approve design deliverables and act as the technical lead with the client. Support testing, installation and commissioning activities. Assist in creating project proposals, bills of materials and estimated engineering hours. Support contract managers with issue claims. Develop work plans and cost estimates, proactively managing the work to deliver the agreed programme on time, quality and cost. Complete risk and opportunity assessments and report issues to management. Act as the Hitachi Energy technical lead, interacting with customers, contractors and stakeholders. Collaborate with supply chain to confirm technical requirements and evaluate supplier proposals. Accept fit‑for‑purpose equipment and services, applying standard processes and tools. Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines. Live the core values of safety and integrity. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (preferred). ECSA registered candidate or equivalent. Experience in telecommunication systems including fixed‑line fiber, copper networks, wireless networks and IP networking. Experience with TDM networks (SDH / PDH) and MPLS‑TP. Project management experience. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Develop detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, and manage national technical initiatives. Align project objectives with organisational strategy and stakeholder requirements. Identify risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies. Oversee technical execution across regions, coordinating engineering, IT and operations teams. Ensure delivery within budget, time and quality standards. Provide technical guidance and decision making throughout the project lifecycle. Conduct technical reviews, quality checks and audits. Maintain communication with stakeholders, vendors and internal teams. Report early on risk, quality, programme and cost issues. Support procurement, vendor contracts and budget management. Budget adherence rate. Technical quality and compliance score. Number of critical risks successfully mitigated. Grade 12 certificate. Tertiary qualification preferable. Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel. Strong leadership, teamwork, communication and negotiation skills. Advanced project management expertise (PMP, PRINCE2). Problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities. Clear criminal record. Lead multiple transformer projects across all stages, driving execution planning, monitoring and control. Act as key contact for customers, escalating project issues and ensuring high‑level relationships. Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental policies and company best practices. Define and maintain project plan documents, risks, schedules and financial plans. Monitor progress, resource utilisation, invoicing, cost and cash flow. Close out projects formally with contractual agreements. Support customer acceptance of transformers and defect removal. Supervise shipping, transport and installation of transformers. Maintain compliance with internal controls and regulations. Live core values of safety and integrity. Bachelor’s or master’s in electrical / energy engineering. PMP certificate (advantageous). 5–10 years experience in project or project controlling, preferably in transformer manufacture. Experience in energy sector / substations. Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project and SAP. Strong technical documentation, interpersonal and teamwork skills. Ability to travel abroad occasionally. Knowledge of contracts (NEC3, FIDIC). English proficiency (spoken & written). Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts and financial reports. Monitor costs, identify variances, provide financial analysis. Track billing, revenue recognition, and cost allocations. Support procurement, vendor payments and contract compliance. Reconcile contractor accounts, manage retentions. Assist with audits and project documentation. Advise on financial risks and cost optimisation. BCom or equivalent in Accounting, Finance. Experience in project or construction accounting. Strong budgeting, forecasting, and MS Excel skills. Experience in engineering or construction background (advantageous). Design industrial robots for engineering manufacturing companies. Program and code robots; support AI integration. Collaborate with engineering teams on specifications and designs. Bachelor (or Diploma) in Industrial Engineering or Robotics. Experience with robot programming and coding. Familiarity with AI applications (beneficial).
