Our client is looking for a hands-on AI Principal Engineer - Product Innovation to lead the technical integration of intelligent capabilities, re-engineering a global ERP company’s legacy system. This role is remote from the UK, South Africa, or Europe, and is full-time with a competitive salary, bonus, and benefits.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and deploy AI / ML models across engineering and operational workflows
  • Prototype solutions using LLMs, RAG, NLP, and multimodal AI
  • Build and maintain scalable MLOps pipelines (Azure ML, Kubeflow, Terraform)
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Ensure model performance, reliability, and integration into ERP systems
  • Mentor junior engineers and data scientists in best practices and emerging techniques

What You Bring

  • 5+ years in AI, ML, or Data Science roles
  • Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and optionally C#
  • Deep experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and MLOps tools
  • Hands-on expertise in generative AI, LLMs, RAG, NLP, and deep learning
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing workflows
  • Certifications in Azure AI, AWS ML, or equivalent
  • A detail-oriented mindset, collaborative approach, and passion for technical excellence

  • Experience : 5+ years in AI / ML / Data Science roles.

    • Bonus : Experience in ERP or manufacturing SaaS environments.

  • Technical Stack : Python, SQL, C# (optional but useful).
  • Cloud platforms : Azure, AWS

  • AI Specialization : Generative AI, LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), NLP, Deep Learning, Multimodal AI
  • ERP & Manufacturing Knowledge : Familiarity with discrete manufacturing workflows and ERP integration points
  • Engineering Delivery : Prototyping, deployment, and maintenance of AI solutions; production integration
  • Team Mentorship : Guiding junior engineers and data scientists; promoting best practices
  • Education : Bachelor’s / Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, or Engineering. PhD is a plus but not required
  • Certifications : Azure AI Engineer, AWS ML, Udacity Nanodegrees, or equivalent
  • Soft Skills : Detail-oriented, collaborative, technically curious; strong communicator with pragmatic mindset
