Position Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Internal Accountant to join our team.
The successful candidate will manage all internal accounting functions, assist with payroll and SARS submissions, support procurement processes, and monitor day‑to‑day operational and site expenditures.
Key Responsibilities
Full accounting function up to trial balance.Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.Maintain accurate general ledger and reconciliations.Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.Maintain and update the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.Ensure compliance with IFRS for SMEs / SA GAAP.Assist with monthly payroll processing and reconciliations.Prepare and submit statutory returns (EMP, EMP, VAT, IRP5s, etc.).Ensure accurate calculation and timely payment of PAYE, UIF, and SDL.Keep up to date with SARS regulations and changes in tax legislation.Support procurement processes, including supplier management and purchase orders.Monitor and verify site-based and general expenditures.Ensure compliance with internal controls and proper documentation of all spending.Assist with internal audits and implementation of process improvements.Liaise with suppliers, internal departments, and external auditors.Support financial administrative tasks and updates to accounting systems.Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.SAIPA, SAICA, or CIMA membership (or eligibility to register) preferred.Experience
Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in an accounting role.Practical experience with payroll processes and SARS compliance.Exposure to procurement and project / site expenditure control.Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks).Skills and Competencies
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Sound knowledge of South African accounting and tax regulations.High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Remuneration
Market-related salary, based on qualifications and experience.
