SUMMARY : POSITION INFO :

Overview

My client a Wildlife Security (Anti Poaching) Company operating in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve is urgently recruiting for a Manager for their Anti-Poaching Unit.

Remunerations Package :

  • Position is a live-in position with a work cycle of 21 days on and 7 days off. (The cycle can also be discussed)
  • Salary will range between R 15K and R 25K depending on experience and skill set.
  • Annual bonus on anniversary month of permanent employment is equivalent to PSIRA Grade C wage.
  • Optional medical insurance as per PSIRA requirements. (Infinity health)

The prospective candidate must have the following attributes and experience.

Minimum Requirements :

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Big 5 Game Reserve, with a good general understanding of how a game reserve functions on both the Tourism and Conservation aspects.
  • Must be comfortable in the field on foot. And willing to spend time with the teams and individually in the bush.
  • Must be “hands on” – this is not an office Job.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years in a leadership position. Must be a positive mentor and role model to the teams.
  • Must be self-motivated and energetic with sober habits. (We work long hours)
  • Must have basic computer skills and administrative skills.
  • Must have firearm competency certificate.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must have formal training in bushcraft / anti-poaching and / or formal training in conservation.
  • Must be able and willing to conduct in-house training to maintain the ranger’s skills.
  • Additional skills that would be advantageous :

  • Knowledge of drones / drone pilot’s license.
  • Knowledge of working dogs / DH levels.
  • Experience in conducting training in the various skills sets required.
  • General technology savvy.
  • PSIRA grades E – B
  • Wildlife Monitoring.
  • Problem Animal Control.
  • The candidate would preferably be in their late twenties to mid-thirties and single, however pending experience, we will consider a couple or older person.
