The Role : Technical Sales Representative
The Technical Sales Representative will be responsible for driving sales growth across a diverse product portfolio, with a particular focus on components and assemblies for new motor vehicles and aftermarket accessories. This role blends consultative selling with technical problem-solving, guiding customers from initial concept and technical requirements through to production-ready designs and successful delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Minimum 3 years of experience in technical sales or applications engineering within manufacturing or automotive supply chains
- Proactively source and qualify opportunities within the automotive and adjacent sectors
- Interpret customer technical requirements and translate them into workable solutions and specifications
- Present and explain product features, benefits, and technical details; conduct demonstrations where required
- Collaborate with internal teams to prepare and refine technical drawings and specifications
- Support new product design from concept to final product, including material and tooling sourcing
- Partner with R&D and engineering teams on product development and continuous improvement initiatives
- Prepare quotations, negotiate terms, and consistently achieve sales targets
- Provide post-sales support on installation, usage, and maintenance to ensure client satisfaction
- Maintain accurate account plans, pipeline activity, and travel regularly to customer sites and industry events
About You
3+ years proven experience in technical sales or applications engineering within manufacturing or automotive sectorsDegree or diploma in engineering, technical drawings, or a related disciplineValid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly across GautengStrong technical aptitude with proficiency in product design / technical drawing softwareSolid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and cost optimisationExcellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholdersHunter mindset with strong negotiation and closing skills, paired with a service-driven approachOrganised, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple client accounts simultaneously#J-18808-Ljbffr
