Job Purpose
To promote and maintain a safe working environment by identifying potential hazards, investigating workplace incidents, reviewing and monitoring safety measures, and serving as a key liaison between employees and management on all health and safety matters.
Key Responsibilities
Hazard Identification & Risk Management
- Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and at-risk behaviours.
- Report and document identified hazards and recommend corrective actions to management.
- Participate in risk assessments and ensure implementation of control measures.
Incident Investigation & Reporting
Investigate and document workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses.Identify root causes and assist in implementing preventive measures.Prepare and submit incident reports in line with company policy and regulatory requirements.Health & Safety Compliance
Monitor adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation, company policies, and procedures.Review and evaluate the effectiveness of current health and safety measures.Participate in internal and external safety audits and inspections.Accompany Department of Labour or other regulatory inspectors during site visits.Training & Communication
Promote safety awareness and assist in conducting safety inductions and toolbox talks.Communicate safety concerns and improvement suggestions between employees and management.Support safety campaigns and initiatives to foster a strong safety culture.Record Keeping & Reporting
Maintain up-to-date safety records, inspection reports, and incident documentation.Assist in preparing monthly safety statistics and reports for management review.Qualifications & Experience
Grade 12 / Matric (essential)Health and Safety Representative Certificate or equivalent qualification (required)Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or industrial environmentKnowledge of OHS Act, ISO 45001 standards, and workplace safety proceduresClean Criminal Record
