Do you like working outdoors and learning new skills This could be the perfect opportunity for you to earn as you learn! Becoming an Apprentice with the City of Newcastle (CN) will provide you with the opportunity to combine on-the-job learning with structured training.

As an Apprentice Painter you will be responsible for the preparation of surfaces and applying paint or decorative finishes per specifications whilst having the opportunity to assist in the delivery of painting and decorating projects including planning estimating procurement of labour plant and material resources.

This is a 4-year fixed-term contract based within our Open Space Operations team where you will gain exposure to all elements of horticulture through on-the-job and technical training.

What is next

If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of our recruitment process:

You will be required to attend 1 x group assessment centre for a 3-hour period on Thursday 12 February 2026.

If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of the recruitment process after the assessment centre: You will be required to complete a Pre-employment medical scheduled to take place on Tuesday 16 2026 - Friday 19 February 2026.

Remuneration: From $37856.48 17.5% annual leave loading yearly payment 12% Superannuation per annum for a 38-hour week
