Life Nkanyanya – Kirkwood Care Centre (chronic psychiatric hospital) located in Kirkwood is currently seeking three Registered Nurses (X3). The role reports to the Unit Manager and involves providing quality patient care and participating in rehabilitation programmes for mental health patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure quality patient care and participate in rehabilitation programmes for mental health patients.
- Daily care rounds to enhance patient satisfaction.
- Provide accurate, appropriate and adequate information to patients and family members.
- Practice professional ethical standards in the unit.
- Provide and supervise individualized, specific nursing care.
- Participate in ESMOE drills and CPD programmes, in‑service training and on‑the‑spot teaching.
- Maintain quality patient care standards.
- Develop effective relationships with multidisciplinary team members and patients.
- Participate in rehabilitation and climatic meetings.
- Practice and ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures and protocols.
- Ensure accurate record keeping in accordance with legal and ethical requirements.
People Management
Interact and communicate with a multidisciplinary team.Provide training and development to ensure personal and professional growth.Supervise lower categories of staff.Conduct in‑service trainings and ward meetings.Assist the Unit Manager in controlling absenteeism and misuse of sick leave.Delegate tasks to juniors and ensure task completion.Governance and Risk Management
Ensure correct use of stock and equipment.Maintain effective control of patient consumables.Ensure a safe environment for patients and employees.Ensure proper use of PPE by employees.Maintain a low rate of incidents.Requirements
