Overview

VillageReach is seeking a Manager, People & Culture to support global growth and impact. This is a remote position with eligibility to work in locations where VillageReach has staff presence (DRC, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Côte d'Ivoire or Nigeria). The role is a global human resources generalist—across business partnering, global compliance, total rewards, and talent management—and involves co-creating with leadership and collaborating within a distributed People & Culture team. The ideal candidate is bilingual (English / French), comfortable working across Africa and the USA, and committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB).

Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute across multiple People & Culture domains including compensation & benefits strategy and administration
  • Provide HR business partnering across all levels of the organization
  • Support compliance and risk management
  • Champion employee wellbeing and retention and lead related initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Talent Manager to develop and deliver global training programs (manager training, compliance, leadership development, technical capacity)
  • Design new policies and deliver on business-critical HR projects globally
  • Coach and advise people managers on employee relations issues across multiple countries
  • Work with senior managers on performance management, employee engagement and workforce planning
  • Foster VillageReach's culture of curiosity and continuous learning
  • Collaborate across the organization, manage stakeholders and set expectations
  • Contribute content and resources to the Human Resources Community of Practice
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position currently has no direct reports but may supervise up to three employees in the future, with responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, monitoring performance, and addressing issues in accordance with policy and law.

    Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Five to seven years of progressively responsible HR experience, including compliance and compensation and benefits; 1-2 years in an international context preferred
  • Experience leading recruitment, performance management, succession planning, and employee engagement with strong DEIB grounding
  • Project management experience with diverse stakeholders
  • Other Qualifications

  • Cultural competency with diverse groups
  • Experience working in rural, underserved, or low-income contexts; living / working in a low-income country is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; comfortable in a fast-paced technical environment
  • Fluency in English required; French strongly preferred; Portuguese also preferred
  • Environment and Physical Demands

    Office typically in a shared, open environment with core collaboration hours 6am PT to 6pm SAST; all staff are expected to be available during these hours. This role is computer-based and involves frequent video calls and collaboration across geographies.
