Our client in the Health Care sector has an opportunity for a skilled and forward-thinking Data Lead to take ownership of the organisations data infrastructure, cloud environments, and IT services. This pivotal role will ensure that their data ecosystem is secure, scalable, reliable, and future-ready, supporting both operational and analytical needs.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Analytics and Technology teams to design and maintain data systems that empower decision-making, enhance performance, and enable innovation across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Data Infrastructure & Cloud Management
Own and manage the organisations overall data infrastructure and cloud environments .
Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure data platforms that meet evolving business requirements.
Oversee data storage, integration, and access strategies across on-premise and cloud systems.
Monitor and optimise infrastructure performance, cost efficiency, and reliability.
Data Governance & Security
Implement and uphold best practices for data governance, integrity, and compliance with relevant standards and legislation (e.g. POPIA, GDPR).
Ensure strong data security protocols are embedded across all systems and services.
Develop and maintain documentation of data architecture, pipelines, and system processes.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Partner closely with Analytics , Technology , and Business teams to deliver a cohesive data strategy.
Support analytics initiatives by ensuring high-quality, accessible, and well-structured data sources.
Serve as a subject matter expert on data architecture, infrastructure, and technology integration.
System Development & Continuous Improvement
Lead the continuous improvement of data systems to enhance performance, automation, and resilience.
Evaluate and adopt new tools, technologies, and architectures aligned with industry best practices.
Oversee system upgrades, migrations, and data-related IT service management.
Qualifications & Experience : Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field (Masters preferred).
57 years experience in data engineering, infrastructure management, or IT leadership roles.
Proven experience managing cloud environments (e.g. AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
Strong understanding of data architecture , ETL processes , and database management (SQL / NoSQL).
Experience with data security, governance frameworks , and compliance regulations.
Familiarity with DevOps, CI / CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation) is advantageous.
Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence at all levels.
