Key Responsibilities
- Assessment and Planning : Evaluating vehicle damage and determining the best repair methods, including estimating time and cost.
- Disassembly and Preparation : Removing damaged parts, body hardware, and interior trim to access the affected areas.
- Panel Repair : Straightening metal body panels using hammers, hydraulic equipment, and other tools to remove dents and damage.
- Parts Replacement : Replacing severely damaged or rusted panels with new or second-hand ones.
- Bodywork Finishing : Applying plastic fillers, then sanding and filing the repaired surfaces to create a smooth finish, ready for painting.
- Assembly and Refitting : Reinstalling repaired or replacement panels, along with body hardware, locks, and trim.
- Painting (sometimes) : Preparing surfaces and potentially spraying panels with paint to match the vehicle\'s original color.
Qualifications & Skills
Artisan Qualification or Diploma or Degree - Fitter and Turner or a Millwright3 to 5 years experience in a similar role or departmentValid Drivers LicenceComputer Literacy with strong Excel and Word skillsGood people communication skillsHigh level technical skillsNotes
