We are urgently seeking a qualified and experienced Underground Coal Mining Engineer to join our team in Middelburg. The successful candidate will play a critical role in overseeing underground coal mining operations, with a strong focus on safety, production efficiency, and equipment utilization. This role requires hands-on experience with continuous miners, shuttle cars, and roof bolters, as well as a solid understanding of underground mining regulations and engineering principles. This position needs to be filled ASAP.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and oversee Underground Coal Mining operations
- Optimize the use, maintenance and repair of continuous miners, shuttle cars, and roof bolters
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations
- Monitor production targets and implement corrective actions where needed
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including geology, safety, and maintenance
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and reporting
- Support operational decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives
Minimum Requirements
GCC 2.13.1 accreditation (mandatory)Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Mining Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or related fieldMinimum 3–5 years of Underground Coal Mining experience as EngineerProven experience with continuous miners, shuttle cars, and roof boltersStrong understanding of Underground Coal Mining methods and safety protocolsProficiency in mining software and ERP systemsExcellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skillsWhat We Offer
