To develop and lead a team that understands the various data sources, how the data flows through the organization and provide expertise, thought leadership, guidance and support through translating business needs into long-term innovative architecture solutions by analyzing data, conducting root cause analysis, engaging with relevant stakeholders across the business and recommending improvements to data pipelines, data quality, metadata, master and reference data, data access management.

Hello, Future Data Analyst. This role is within WesBank and enables the business to make decisions based on fit for purpose data. The role facilitates data integration, sharing, and aggregation. Helps the organisation to align with international best practices and industry standards. Ensures that the business stakeholders understand the various data sources, how the data flows through the organization and provide expertise, thought leadership, guidance and support through translating business needs into long-term innovative architecture solutions by analysing data, conducting root cause analysis, engaging with relevant stakeholders across the business and recommending improvements to data pipelines, data quality, metadata, master and reference data, and data access management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder management across various areas within and outside of the Group
  • Provide ad hoc data analysis as and when required to support key decision making
  • Assist with the analysis of data quality issues and findings as input to the data quality issues remediation process
  • Support risk heads with ensuring ongoing compliance with the BCBS239 regulations through annual reviews of data flows
  • Query, clean and mine large data sets, connecting data from disparate sources to identify insights and patterns
  • Prepare and present findings on data analysis in written and verbal reports to key stakeholders
  • Apply company, business, Group and / or relevant industry knowledge for analysis
  • Assist with the mapping of the various source systems to the relevant enterprise data model elements (engage with the Data Modelers where the models need to be extended), and enterprise reference data
  • Keep up to date with new data assets and products to identify new opportunities, capabilities and trends that would add value to business
  • Attend and participate at relevant Steerco's, data working forums and Executive forums and present case as and when required
  • Provide relevant business management reports that are submitted to Exco and other relevant forums
  • Analyse and recommend changes to data pipelines of existing and new initiatives with the aim of aligning these to avoid duplication in data pipelines, inconsistent mappings, etc
  • Partner with stakeholders to grasp problem specifics - collects, processes and analyses data to quantify the scope, nature and severity of the problem
  • Engage and drive conversations with relevant stakeholders to unpack project requirements
  • Work with the relevant Data stakeholders when new data or changes to existing solutions are required and manage timelines and expectations with business
  • Identify opportunities / changes which need to apply in Data Analytics solutions (e.g. Cubes / Production reports)
  • Keep up to date with local and global trends and provide subject matter expertise to relevant stakeholders in area of expertise
  • Coach, guide and train Data Analyst I and perform reviews as required

You\'ll Be An Ideal Candidate If You

  • Have strong knowledge of credit and lending products and channels
  • Deep domain knowledge of the credit value chain and technical understanding of the regulatory framework and best practice, as it relates to banking will be advantageous
  • Strong knowledge and experience in working with large data sets and creating management information reports
  • Strong understanding of Data Analytics in a large financial services organisation
  • Understand both the technical points of Data Management and Analytics, as well as the business drivers and needs
  • Understand regulations and legislation which require information or data management and analytics capabilities, communities and understand the dependencies between people, technology and the processes of Data Management
  • Intermediate to advanced level of experience working with SQL, MS Excel and other data visualization tools such as PowerBI, QlikView, etc
  • Qualifications And Experience

  • Minimum Qualification : Relevant Bachelors\' Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or Econometrics
  • Preferred Qualification : Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology
  • Experience : A minimum of 5 - 8 years\' experience in a similar role / environment
  • Advanced level of proficiency in SQL, Excel and Data Visualization tools for Data analysis and MI Reporting
