Overview

Amazon is hiring a Vendor Manager (VM) to improve the experience for our customers in Africa. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, analytical and creative candidate to join our team. You will work directly with strategic vendor partners to develop and manage their business, acting as a liaison and executing joint business plans that improve value, selection and convenience across their business portfolio. The VM role involves working with strategic and large vendors to grow their business through merchandising / marketing, new product launches, pricing, inventory management, and supply chain optimization. You will collaborate with multiple internal teams to grow and improve your subcategory and the vendor’s success at Amazon. This role will be both strategic and tactical.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the business owner for subcategories and vendors, understanding internal and external variables that impact the business.
  • Own forecasting, monitoring, reporting on subcategory and vendor performance, and drive strategic supply chain projects and promotions to achieve business objectives.
  • Proactively negotiate costs, promotional opportunities, and other business inputs for the vendor autonomously.
  • Conduct pricing and ROI analysis and make recommendations to optimize profit margins.
  • Manage Purchase Orders and in-stock analysis for subcategories and strategic brands.
  • Optimize the online presence and content of each product in the brand portfolio.
  • Develop and execute marketing plans to drive awareness and purchases for the subcategory and brands.
  • Drive cross-category initiatives to improve operational processes and deliver results.

The role offers a unique opportunity to work at the most innovative online retailer and develop strong functional skills in online merchandising / marketing, buying, planning and forecasting, pricing, and business analysis. There is opportunity for greater responsibility and advancement into roles including Merchandising, Senior Vendor Management and Inventory Management.

About The Team

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor\'s degree
  • Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion and inventory management
  • Experience managing large data sets and utilizing them to drive performance and process improvements
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of account management, project or program management or buying experience
  • Experience with financial analysis and P&L ownership
