Diesel Mechanic

Our client is a major player in the rail and logistics sector, specialising in the operation, maintenance, and modernisation of locomotives and rolling stock. With operations across Southern Africa, they provide full-service solutions to freight operators and are known for high engineering standards, safety, and innovation. Theyre now growing their team at a key facility based in Pretoria North.

The successful candidate will perform preventative maintenance, fault diagnostics, and mechanical repairs on diesel-electric locomotives and related systems. Work will involve both workshop-based and field servicing, focusing on engines, brake systems, transmissions, and fuel systems. Youll also maintain service records, ensure compliance with rail safety standards, and be part of a team responsible for keeping critical rail operations running smoothly.

Job Experience and Skills Required :

• Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic (accredited by MERSETA or similar)
• Minimum 5 years experience in rail or locomotives
• Strong diagnostic skills on diesel-electric systems, hydraulics, and brake systems
• Experience with locomotive engines (GE, GM, or similar)
• Familiarity with rail safety procedures and technical reporting
