Role context : Are you a highly skilled HVAC Commissioning Technician looking for a dynamic role where you can lead installations, optimize performance, and ensure compliance ? We’re seeking a seasoned professional to commission, install, and provide technical support on HVAC and refrigeration systems while ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards. You will play a key role in leading teams, troubleshooting complex systems, and delivering high-quality service to our clients.
What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)
- Project Delivery – Manage HVAC projects from initiation to commissioning, ensuring timely execution and quality standards.
- Commission & Install HVAC Systems – Supervise installations, conduct site surveys, test final stages, and ensure systems function optimally.
- Technical Troubleshooting – Diagnose and repair HVAC system faults, including wiring, components, and performance issues.
- Compliance & Reporting – Ensure all work meets industry, company, and safety standards, while maintaining complete project documentation.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement – Attend meetings, address customer concerns, and build strong client relationships.
- Team Leadership & Development – Mentor and oversee a small team, ensuring high performance and skills transfer.
- Routine & Preventative Maintenance – Conduct inspections, service HVAC units, and generate work requisitions for required maintenance.
- Safety & Quality Assurance – Ensure adherence to OHSA regulations and company quality standards.
- Collaboration & Support – Work closely with logistics, admin teams, and technical supervisors to ensure seamless project execution.
Experience & Qualifications
5 – 10 years of hands-on experience in HVAC commissioning, servicing, and maintenance.3+ years of post-trade experience in a senior technical role.Proven ability to lead commissioning projects and manage teams.Strong technical knowledge of chilled water systems, cooling towers, VRF / VRV systems, and pumps.Experience in technical presentations and stakeholder engagement.Qualifications
Trade Qualification as Refrigeration / Air-conditioning Technician (Mandatory).Registered Gas Practitioner with SAQCC (Optional).Valid Driver’s License.Matric / Grade 12 (essential).BTech / National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (beneficial).N2 – N6 Nated Certificate (optional but beneficial).Technical Skills
HVAC System Expertise – Deep understanding of commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of large-scale HVAC systems.Compliance Knowledge – Strong understanding of safety protocols, construction standards, and engineering principles.Hands-on Ability – Proficient in working with manual and power tools for HVAC installations.Soft Skills & Work Approach
